Abstract
Derivative spectrophotometry involves the conversion of a normal
spectrum to its first, second or higher derivative spectrum. Derivative
spectrophotometry is a useful means of resolving two overlapping
spectra and eliminating matrix interferences or interferences due to an
indistinct shoulder on side of an absorption band. There are first,
second, third and fourth derivative spectrophotometric methods. In the
present study Acipimox in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form was
estimated by Derivative spectroscopic method by using UV visible
spectrophotometer with distilled water as a solvent. Absorption
maxima was found o be 231nm.The developed method was validated
for Linearity, Accuracy, Precision.Repeatability studies and Assay.
The developed methods were simple, accurate, sensitive and precise and found to be within
prescribed limits.
