A CASE STUDY ON ASTHIMAJJAGATA VATA W.S.R. AVASCULAR NECROSIS

. Abstract Avascular necrosis is defined as cellular death of bone components due to interruption of the blood supply. The bone collapse resulting in pain, stiffness and difficulty using the affected limbs. The exact cause of avascular necrosis (AVN) is often not known. But it can be can be caused by trauma, certain medical conditions and the use of certain medications. Avascular necrosis (AVN) is also known as osteoporosis, aseptic necrosis and ischemic bone necrosis. Avascular necrosis usually involves the epiphysis of long bones at weight bearing joints. The most common site’s for Avascular necrosis are the femoral head, knee, talus and humeral head. The hip is the most common location overall. Usually, men are more prone to AVN then woman. Here is the case of a 45 year old male who was diagnosed AVN 6 months back. He was admitted with complaints of aggregating pain in right hip with groin regions. He was given manjishthadi kwath yukta majja basti (karma basti) along with other panchakarma therapies and oral medicines. After the treatment pain decreased, right hip joint range of motion improved. This case demonstrates the effectiveness of ayurvedic treatment in managing avascular necrosis and enhancing overall quality of life.
