DESIGN, SYNTHESIS AND EVALUATION OF SOME NOVEL -{[(1HINDOL- 4-YL)OXY]METHYL}-5-PHENYL-1,3,4-OXADIAZOLE DERIVATIVES AS POTENTIAL ANTIOXIDANT AGENTS

Abstract
A new series of 2-{[(1H-indol-4-yl)oxy]methyl}-5-phenyl-1,3,4-
oxadiazole derivatives are synthesised by the reaction of 2-[(1H-indol-
4-yl)oxy]acetohydrazide (2) with different aromatic aldehydes to form
schiff’s bases (3) and the cyclization of the 2-[(1H-indol-4-yl)oxy]-N'-
benzylideneacetohydrazide (3) with chloramines-T a strong oxidizing
agent to form the final compounds. Finally, the structures of all the
various synthesized compounds were assigned on the basis of IR and
1H NMR spectral data and these compounds were screened for their
antioxidant activity.
