IMPACT OF LUFENURON (5.4%EC) ON REPRODUCTIVE END POINTS OF T. CASTANEUM.
Purva Gado, S.G. Salokhe*, S.G. Despande
Abstract Topical application of Lufenuron (5.4% EC) IGR was evaluatedagainst adults of T.castaneum, under the laboratory conditions withrespect to its fecundity and fertility. The sublethal concentrations LC1,LC10 and LC20 obtained were 0.00263ppm, 0.420ppm and 0.496ppmrespectively. The results revealed that when sublethal concentrations ofLufenuron were applied to both male and female there is completefailure of egg laying in all the doses. However when the only femaleswere treated there was reduction in fecundity in a dose dependentmanner, which is significantly lower than pairs were only males weretreated. Hatching of eggs laid by treated female X untreated male exhibit that at LC10, LC 20 itinduced complete sterility and at LC1 it caused 80% sterility.
