PHARMACEUTICAL STANDARDIZATION OF MADHWADI LEPA

. Abstract Bhaishajya Kalpana is an important branch of Ayurveda which mainly deals with the preparation of various Ayurvedic formulations. The medicines which are in the form of a paste and used for external application are called as Lepa. Padadari is a Kshudra roga that occurs due to the vitiation of Vata. It can be correlated to Cracked feet. Madhwadi lepa is one of the formulations mentioned in Basavarajeeyam indicated for Padadari. Madhwadi lepa contains Madhu, Sikta, Saindava lavana, Ghrita, Guda, Mahishaksha guggulu, Shala niryasa and Gairika. The pharmaceutical procedures adopted in this study are Shodhana, Churna nirmana, Mardana and preparation of Madhwadi lepa. The present study is planned to standardize the method of preparation of Madhwadi lepa according to the method explained in the classics. Keywords: Lepa, Madhwadi lepa, Padadari, Standardization.
