Abstract

Custard apple L. is a significant medicinal plant that is used to cure a variety of illnesses in traditional medicine.[1] A. squamosa L. offers a variety of medicinal uses for its various components; nevertheless, the leaves' anticancer potential is still unknown.[2] The main symptoms of diabetes, an endocrine and metabolic condition, are high blood sugar levels, insulin resistance, and insulin insufficiency. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) reports that diabetes mellitus (DM) is becoming more and more commonplace worldwide. 415 million individuals worldwide have diabetes in 2016, and 642 million are expected to have the disease by 2040.[3] which also contribute to the development of vascular complications. The effectiveness of Annona squamosa leaf methanol extract on the serum lipid profile of diabetic mice was investigated in this study) The leaf extracts with methanol and hexane exhibit the highest and second highest antioxidant properties[4] in the DPPH free radical scavenging assay. The bark methanol extract exhibits a significant degree of antidiabetic activity in the α-amylase inhibition test.[5] In experimental dibetic rats, A. squamosa aqueous extract supplementation is helpful in regulating blood glucose levels, improving plasma insulin, lipid metabolism, and preventing diabetic complications from lipid peroxidation and antioxidant systems[6]; as a result, it may be helpful in the prevention or early treatment of diabetes mellitus.
