ANTIOXIDANT AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF MOMORDICA CHARANTIA SEEDS

. Abstract Objective: To investigate antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of seeds Momordica charantia Linn. The secondary metabolites of plant phytoconstituents have potent therapeutic properties. In present investigation of Momordica charantia seeds were subjected for hydroalcoholic extraction and obtained extract contained flavonoids, phenolic content. Hence, the study focused on antimicrobial and antioxidant activities using different strains and DPPH-method respectively. In addition, the phytochemical analysis demonstrated the great amounts of total phenolic and flavonoids composition in Momordica charantia seeds. The result indicated that this plant could act as a promising antimicrobial agent due to their short killing time. The hydroalcoholic extract of seeds Momordica charantia exhibited an excellent antioxidant and antimicrobial activities.
