. Abstract A series of new Chalcone 4a-4j and Isoxazole 5a-5j derivatives have been synthesized as potential antimicrobial agents. The isoxazole derivatives 5a-5j have been synthesized by reaction of various chalcones 4a-4j with hydroxylamine hydrochloride. The Chalcones 4a- 4j were prepared by the condensation of 1-{4'-[(3''-methyl)-4''- (2''',2''',2'''-trifluoroethoxy)pyridin-2''-yl]methoxyphenyl}ethan-1-one with aromatic aldehyde. The compound 3 has been synthesized by reacting 2-(chloromethyl)-3-methyl-4-(2',2',2'-trifluoroethoxy)pyridine hydrochloride with 4-hydroxy acetophenone in the presence of K2CO3. The structures of newly synthesized compounds were confirmed based on 1H-NMR, mass spectra, and IR data. All the newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity against Gram +ve Bacteria Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Gram –ve Bacteria Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Fungi Aspergillus niger. Keywords: Chalcones, Isoxazoles, Anti-microbial activity. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
