GUILLAIN–BARRÉ SYNDROME (GBS) - A CASE SERIES ANALYSIS
*Shikka Mary Mathew, Surya Soman and Dr. Sunil Antony
. Abstract Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is an acute, immune-mediated polyneuropathy characterized by the rapid onset of muscle weakness and often ascending paralysis. The pathophysiological mechanisms of GBS are thoroughly examined, with special attention to the roles played by autoimmune responses and molecular mimicry brought on by antecedent infections, especially gastrointestinal and respiratory infections. The value of early detection of symptoms and indicators, as well as the importance of thorough clinical and electrophysiological evaluations in making the diagnosis. The effectiveness of the available treatments for GBS, such as intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and plasmapheresis, is examined with an emphasis on how well they work to control symptoms and encourage healing. It also covers future research directions, such as the development of novel therapeutic modalities and the discovery of biomarkers for early diagnosis, as well as possible difficulties in the management of GBS.
