Abstract

Ayurveda is the most ancient science of healing methods used and Rasashastra & Bhaishajya kalpana is its unique branch which deals with preparing the most effective and useful medicines by selecting and collecting genuine raw drugs, herbs, minerals and metals undergoing different processing / Samskaras; with the details of their therapeutic indications, dose, anupana, pathya-apathya etc. Anandabhairava Rasa is one of such classical preparation which is named so because it contains Rasa i.e Parada (Mercury) which is the key component of Rasoushadhi. These Rasoushadis are the formulation of Ayurveda in which Parada is used as an ingredient after proper detoxification procedures (samskaras) as per classical Ayurvedic texts. Parada possess many powerful medicinal properties, hence it is used in many formulations and cures many complex diseases.
