Cutaneous vasculitis may be isolated problem but occasionally is associated with vasculitis in other organs. The cutaneous features are of hemorrhagic papules, pustules, nodules or plaques which may erode and ulcerate. An ulcer is a break in the continuity of the covering epithelium – skin or mucous membrane. It may either follow molecular death of the surface epithelium or its traumatic removal. Vatarakta is of two varieties i.e., Uttana and Gambhira Vatarakta where Uttana Vatarakta is exhibiting superficial manifestations involving skin. In Ayurveda, Parisheka is one of the treatment protocols mentioned for Vatarakta along with Abhyanga, Pradeha, Virechana, Raktamokshana and Basti. It is one among Shashti Upakramas for the management of Vrana. Guduchi is a drug of choice in Vatarakta. Keywords: Vasculitis, Ulcer, Vatarakta, Parisheka, Guduchi.
