AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF LICHEN PLANUS: A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorders that most often affect middle aged adults. It appears as pruritic, violaeceous papules and plaques. It is an inflammatory disorder of the skin and mucous membrane with unknown causes. Lichen planus is occur due to immune dysfunction. It affects age group between 30 to 60 years. In modern science steroid are only line of treatment for both systematic and topical use. In Ayurveda classics Lichen planus resembles with Kitibha Kushtha type of Kushtha Vyadhi. In this case study a 46 year old female patient with Lichen planus since 1 year, came for Ayurvedic treatment for knowing its excellent result in such conditions. It can be treat with the principles of treatment mentioned for Kushtha in Ayurveda so according to predominance of dosha dushya , treating with Shodhana Karma i.e Vireachana followed by Vamana therapy and other oral Ayurvedic medicines.
