Abstract

A SINGLE CASE STUDY OF AYURVEDA MANAGEMENT OF KAPHAJA PRATISHYAYA DISEASE

Abstract

Pratishyaya is considered by Ayurveda to be one of the most notable of the 31 nasarogas diseases. Acharya Sushruta describes the state experie nced by Vata Kaphadusti as Pratishyaya. People of all ages are susceptible to rhinitis, a type of respiratory disease. The main cause of this disease is sedentary lifestyle, exposure to cold environments, frequent use of cold weather, malnutrition, ice, cold water, spicy foods, such as curd, pickles and sauce. Ayurveda’s global importance lies in its positive approach to life. Pratishyaya is always been a challenging disease in the context of nasagata roga, which can be deciphered from the importance it has been given in samhitas. After describing nasagata roga and its predecessors, a separate chapter is devoted to this in the Uttartantra of Sushruta samhita. Acharya sushruta also describes nasaroga with great accuracy. In the Uttartantam, Sushruta provides a detailed description of nasal diseases including symptoms, signs, theories and medical treatment. Panchakarma techniques such as Nasya and internal ayurvedic medicine are effective in treating kaphaja pratishyaya. The present report deals with the case of kaphaja pratishyaya came to care for ayurvedic treatment. A criteria for assessment was based on symptomatic presentation, subjective objective criteria. Assessment were carried out for and after trestment. Patient has shown good improvement in reducing elevated AEC level. Sytomatic improvement was found in reduction of signs and symptoms from this case study we can say that ayurvedic treatment seems to be promising management of kaphaja pratishyaya without causing adverse effects.
