Abstract

kshar (alkaline substance) of yava (Hordeum vulgare) shuk (seed) is used in numerous ayuverdic formulation; but its standard manufacturing process (SMP) is not aimed yet. This study is tried to establish SMP of yava shuk kshar. It is essential to standardize the herbal drug preparation to certify their quality and purity. Raw material authentication and analysis was done of the drug. In this herbal preparation we had taken 3 samples of yava shuk kshar and standardization was carried out. Yava shuk kshar was prepared by classical method mentioned in rasataranigi and basic Physico chemical analysis was observed and achieved. In Physico chemical analysis LOD, AIA, Ph was estimated. In XRF analysis Cl, K2O, P2O5, SO3 were determined. In XRD analysis of the study drug peaks of halite Cl1 Na1 and sylvine Cl1 K1 are noted in graphical presentation. The estimated values of yava shuk kshar denotes it is alkaline in nature as well as it can be used in the preparation of kasa and swasa formulation.
