DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF TAPENTADOL HYDROCHLORIDE PROLONGED RELEASE MATRIX TABLETS BY DRY GRANULATION METHOD
Sasikanth Kothamasu*, Bommanaboina Thirupatamma, B. Thangabalan
. Abstract Prolonged release tablets were developed to release the drug gradually and offer a consistent supply of it for a long time. Present work focuses on concept of development and evaluation of Tapentadol hydrochloride prolonged matrix tablets and their comparativeness to the reference listed drug. The aim of this study was to prepare prolonged release dosage form based on HPMC polymer grades using, Tapentadol hydrochloride as an ideal drug. The formulations are prepared based on polymers of different grades, such as, HPMC (Methocel K15M) and HPMC (Methocel K200M), with different concentrations to get the preferred prolonged release profile over a period of 12 hrs. The characterization studies for tapentadol hydrochloride prolonged tablets were achieved by measurement of apparent density, porosity. All formulations were evaluated for stability, and kinetic drug release, FT-IR and in- vitro drug release profile. It was concluded that the proposed prolonged drug delivery system is promising for prolonged release of Tapentadol hydrochloride and matched with the innovator (palexia retard prolonged release tablets). Keywords: Prolonged release tablets, Tapentadol hydrochloride, HPMC Polymer Grades, In- vitro drug release. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
