Swapna Sunil, Jeeva Elizabeth Thomas* and Sunil Antony
. Abstract Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis(LC), also known as "leptomeningeal metastasis" or "carcinomatosis meningitis," is involvement by cancer of the pia and arachnoid mater of the brain with the subarachnoid space in between.[1] The intricate nature of leptomeningeal carcinomatosis (LC), a challenging complication in cancer characterized by cancer cell infiltration into cerebrospinal fluid and central nervous system membranes. LC manifests in advanced metastatic stages, spanning hematological and solid tumors. The clinical spectrum ranges from advanced metastatic disease to rare cases as an initial tumor presentation or in patients in remission. The presented case of a 46- year-old male highlights the diverse symptoms and diagnostic challenges associated with LC. Emphasis is placed on nuanced understanding for early diagnosis and effective management, underscoring the complexity of this condition. The medical management detailed in the case involves symptom control and recommendations for further investigations, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive approach in LC cases.
