Abstract

The most typical menstrual symptom among teenage girls and young women is dysmenorrhea. One might categorize dysmenorrhea as primary or secondary. It is described as lower abdominal cramps that happen either right before or right during menstruation. This issue arises from living a luxury lifestyle, not exercising, and eating greasy, spicy, and salty food. The primary aspect of Kashtartava is pain. The long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs), antispasmodics, oral contraceptives, and other medications causes side effects in modern medicine. Safe, strong, and efficient Ayurvedic treatment is used for managing it. Vat dosha is associated with Kashtartava pain. Vata shamak is trivritta sneha. In kashtartava vata dosha, gati pratilom, explained by Charaka. Primary dysmenorrhea, which is characterized as painful menstruation without pelvic disease, affects the majority of teenagers. Menstruation-related pain that manifests as secondary dysmenorrhea is typically thought to be present when pelvic disease is present. It is possible to tie this to Kashtartava. Being a vata kapha pradhana vyadhi, Kashtartava mostly possesses the vata dosha. Because of kapha prakopa, pratiloma gati of apana vayu and kapha's obstruction of the srotas result in vata prakopa and raja krichratha. This case study features a 33-year-old woman whose main complaints have been painful and irregular menstruation for a year, uterine fibroids for a year, and mildly polycystic ovaries for six months. The patient has dysmenorrhea secondary to menstruation. A USG scan indicated mildly polycystic ovaries and uterine fibroids. Lekhana basti was administered in yoga basti after obtaining her consent. Result found was pain during menstruation reduced drastically menstruation reduced drastically and irregularity in menstruation was also corrected. There was no significant decrease in the size of the fibroid. In this single case study concept of Kashtartava w.s.r to secondary dysmenorrhea along with treatment course is explained. This case study proves that ayurvedic management plays a vital role in reducing the major symptoms.
