KRIYATMAK STUDY OF ANNAVAHA STROTAS W.S.R. TO GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT

Abstract

Ayurveda is an ancient science of life. It has its holistic approach about strotas. Strotas are channels and structural and functional unit of body through which nutrients flow from one part to another. Each strotas is attached to specific anatomical structure called moolsthan. In ayurveda different Acharyas stated the various description about strotomool. Strotomool is like a root of tree. As a tree is seriously affected when injury to its root similarly strotas is also affected when their strotomoola is being injured or vitiated. Strotas are innumerable but some Acharyas stated them numerable in number. Annavaha strotas is largest strotas and most important strotas in living body. Annavaha strotas is channel for transportation, digestion and absorption of food. Strotomool of Annavaha strotas are amashaya and vamparshwa as per Charak and annavahi dhamanee as per Sushrut. Annavaha strotas can be considered as upper part of Git from mouth to small intestine. If we know about structure and function of strotomool then it is easy for management of various diseases of that Srotas.
