.

Abstract

In Ayurveda, visha is mentioned in Chikitsa sthan of Charak Samhita, Kalpa sthan of Sushrut Samhita, and Uttartantra of Ashthanghruday. In rural areas, Honeybee sting incidents are quite common in India. Death due to honeybee stings is quite rare. The usual manifestation of a honeybee sting is either a local reaction or a systemic reaction of anaphylaxis or massive envenomation when a large number of honeybees are stung. The damsha lakshanas of different types of Keeta and a wide range of drugs used to treat the same are explained in detail in Ayurveda. Honey bee bites occur accidentally but require prompt and quick treatment as one of the types is fatal in nature. Treatment is different according to the type of Makshika. Some severe types of keeta visha are described who are harmful to human beings. So it is necessary to have basic knowledge of Makshika and its treatment. This article focuses on a review from Ayurvedic View.

Keywords: Makshikas Dansha, Keet, Visha.
