ROLE OF PACHAN CHIKITSA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF UPASTHAMBHIT VATAVYADHI IN RELATION TO ANNAVAHA STROTAS

. Abstract Background: Vatavyadhi are the one of the major diseases described in Ayurveda. They are mainly of two types Upastambhit and Anupastambhit. Upasthambhit Vatavyadhi is manifested mainly due to Strotorodha. Agnimandya or Vikrut Annavaha Strotas are the mainly responsible for the Aam formation. This Aam is the main culprit for Strotorodh, which in turn causes Upastambhit Vatavyadhi. Material and Method: 10 Patients of Vatavyadhi, who had Lakshanas of Vikrit Annavaha Strotas, at first treated with Dipan-Pachan Chikitsa. After that they have treated with routine treatment of Vatavyadhi. Result: After getting Deepan-Pachan Chikitsa, complaints regarding digestive disorder in patients shows relief and after that routine treatment of Vata Vyadhi given to patients showed dramatic improvements. Conclusion: While treating Vatavyadhi, one should always look for the complaints regarding Annavaha Strotas. It may be because of formation of Aam which cause Strotorodh ultimately causing vitiation of Vata. Pachan- Dipan Chikitsa is essential to treat Ama-Avastha. After Agni Dipan these Patients were treated with Vatahar Chikitsa. There was encouraging improvement.
