Abstract

ASSESSMENT AND PREVALENCE, AWARENESS, RISK FACTORS, CONTROL OF HYPERTENSION IN URBAN AND RURAL AREAS OF INDIA: OVERALL REVIEW

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease strikes Indians at a significant incidence. Blood pressure, sometimes known as Hypertension, is a significant modifiable risk factor. Comprehensive reviews or nationally representative studies on the prevalence, management and consequences of hypertension are non-exist in India. Some of the previous studies examined that there is a high prevalence, high risk factors, poor awareness, less control, and no particular treatments are specified in urban and rural areas of India. In this current study we can overview the past studies and can discuss about control, treatment, awareness of hypertension in India especially in rural areas. In conclusion, compared to 1980 to 2000 hypertensive patients are increased A high prevalence of hypertension exists in rural, urban areas where awareness and control are still lacking in rural. High risk factors, including high salt intake, diabetes, alcoholism, smoking, advanced age, and being overweight or obese, contribute to hypertension in the majority of Indians.
