HERBAL APPROACHES TO GASTRIC ULCER TREATMENT: CURRENT CHALLENGES AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS
Ritesh Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Amanpreet Kaur* and Dr. Naresh Singh Gill
. Abstract Mucosal damage that breaks through the muscularis mucosal barrier and creates a lesion surrounded by both acute and chronic inflammation is the cause of peptic ulcers. Peptic ulcers are a combination of stomach and duodenal ulcers. An imbalance between aggressive gastric luminal components such as nitric oxide, acid pepsin production, and lipid peroxidation and protective mucosal blocking causes peptic ulcer disease. H2 (Histamine Receptor) antagonists and H pump inhibitors, which are the standard therapies for peptic ulcers, have been associated with mild to severe side effects, relapses in certain cases, and medication interactions. Peptic ulcers can be effectively treated using medicinal herbs and their antiulcer phytoconstituents. Numerous plants have been found to have antiulcer properties, and these plants also provide a variety of floral products. Peptic ulcers can be treated by phytoconstituents such as kaempferol, tannins, terpenoids, and flavonoids. This study focuses on medicinal plants that can be used to cure or prevent peptic ulcers because their phytoconstituents have a gastroprotective effect. Keywords: Peptic ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, H.pylori, antiulcer herbal medicine, tumour necrosis factor. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
