ANTI-PARASITIC EFFICACY OF THE UNRIPE FRUITS OF BACCAUREA COURTALLENSIS
K. Aryamol*, Anu Alif, C. Vismaya and P. L. Rajagopal
. Abstract In the present study the aqueous extract of the unripe fruits of Baccaurea courtallensis were investigated for their anthelmintic activity against Eisenia fetida. Four concentrations (100, 150, 200, 250 mg/ml) of the aqueous extract of the drug was subjected for evaluation. The study was mainly concerned with the determination of time of paralysis and time of death of parasites. The gradual increase in the dose of the extract showed a gradual increase in the athelmintic activity. The aqueous extract of the unripe fruit showed significant activity at highest concentration of 250 mg/ml. In the evaluation normal saline was used as control and albendazole was used as reference standard. Keywords: Baccaurea courtallensis (Wight.) Mull. Arg., Eisenia fetida, albendazole, anthelmintic activity. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
