. Abstract Haemorrhoids, colloquially known as piles, are a prevalent medical condition with a long history of affliction across diverse cultures. Throughout recorded history, various medical traditions, including Unani, Ayurveda, and Western medicine, have provided detailed descriptions and treatments for haemorrhoids. This paper delves into the historical evolution of haemorrhoids, exploring ancient understandings and therapeutic approaches alongside modern classifications and treatments. Despite advancements in medical knowledge and technology, haemorrhoids remain a common ailment, with prevalence rates increasing with age and varying across regions due to dietary and lifestyle factors.
