QOOBA (DERMATOPHYTOSIS) WITH REFERENCE TO UNANI AND MODERN CONCEPT: AN OVERVIEW

. Abstract The term "ringworm fungi" refers to a class of filamentous fungi known as dermatophytes that is related to three genera; Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Epidermophyton. In modern literature, Dermatophytosis is defined as a superficial infection of the keratinized layer of skin caused by a group of keratinophilic fungi. According to Unani Medicine Qooba (dermatophytosis) is the roughness on the surface of the skin, which is associated with itching, scaling, erythema, and dryness.In Unani medicine blood dyscrasia is responsible for the pathogenesis of Qooba (dermatophytosis). It is the commonest form of skin infection affecting about 20-25% of the world population and poses a considerable worldwide health problem as per the WHO report. This review study makes an effort to identify the cause of Dermatophytosis, describes the condition's, classification and treatment from both the Unani and modern medicine perspectives.
