RANDOMISED CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIAL OF ADD-ON EFFECT OF VARDHAMAN PIPPALI RASAYANA ON VIDANGADI LOHA IN MANAGEMENT OF PANDU

. Abstract [1]Anaemia, a global health concern, is understood in Ayurveda as Pandu Roga, linked to [2]Rakta Dhatu imbalance influenced by Pitta Dosha and lifestyle factors. Ayurvedic treatment emphasizes holistic revitalization, with [3]Rasayana Chikitsa, notably Vardhaman Pippali Rasayana, playing a pivotal role. Despite textual support, its scientific validation remains limited. A randomized clinical trial assesses its addon effect to [4]Vidangadi Loha for Anaemia management, aiming to elucidate its therapeutic potential and integrate traditional Ayurvedic principles with modern healthcare for optimized outcomes and disease prevention. Aim- To study the add-on effect of [5]Vardhaman Pippali Rasayana on Vidangadi Loha in Management of Pandu roga. Study Design – A randomized controlled open label clinical trial. Material and Methods – The study was conducted on female patients of reproductive age group 15-49 years having classical symptoms of Pandu Vyadhi. Clinical features were documented before, during and after the treatment. Statistical analysis used – Observations of the study were analyzed and findings were evaluated by using statistical methods (Wilcoxon Signed Rank test and Mann Whitney U Test). Results – After treatment, Group B – Vidangadi loha along with Vardhaman Pippali rasayana showed significant improvement 95.79% in subjective parameters and 46.79% in objective parameters while Group A- only Vidangadi loha was comparatively less effective i.e 77.93% in improving subjective parameters and 29.37% in improving objective parameters.
