SYNTHESIS, SPECTRAL STUDIES AND ANTIMICROBIAL SCREENING OF SOME NEW CHALCONE AND QUINOLINE DERIVATIVES

. Abstract (E)-3-(2’-amino-3’,5’-dibromophenyl)-1-(aryl) prop-2-en-1-ones (1a- 1l) and 2-aryl- 6,8-dibromoquinolines (2a-2l) were synthesized. The synthesized structures were validated through spectral analysis including IR, Mass, and 1H-NMR. The antimicrobial activity of compounds (1a-1l) and (2a-2l) was assessed against Gram positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus), Gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and Fungi Aspergillus Niger.
