A REVIEW: TOXIC EFFECTS OF TRICLOSAN IN DEODORANT STICKS

. Abstract Triclosan (2,4,4′-trichloro-2′-hydroxydiphenyl ether) is a broad spectrum, antimicrobial agent active against most gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It has been found in wide range of personal care products, including deodorant soaps, underarm deodorants, shower gels, and handwashes. In this article we reviewed the structure, properties, pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion), pharmacological properties and toxicities of triclosan.
