A REVIEW ON HERBAL OINTMENT

. Abstract Ointments are semisolid dosage forms that, under shear stress, often behave like visco-elastic `materials. They are often used topically to the body for therapeutic purposes and include medicinal substances. Numerous medicinal substances that are applied topically to either intact or damaged skin or mucous membranes are in a semisolid consistency and are referred to by different names, such as pastes, ointments, and creams. It is typically applied to the skin as an emollient or protective layer. Active ingredients, herbal ingredients, or both can be found in herbal formulations. prepared herbal mixtures or herbal material combined with many prepared herbal mixtures. The procedures of extraction, distillation, expression, fractionation, purification, concentration, or fermentation are applied to herbal constituents to create herbal medicines.
