Abstract

Aim: The study aims to compare the safety and efficacy of Ticagrelor with Clopidogrel in patients at Tertiary Care Hospital. Objectives: The primary objective of this comparative study is to assess and compare the safety and efficacy profiles of clopidogrel and ticagrelor in patients with cardiovascular diseases. Methodology: The study conducted at KIMS Hospital over six months compared patients diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) or those undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) with stent placement. Patient data and laboratory values were recorded using a standardized proforma. The methodology likely involved retrospective data collection, possibly supplemented by prospective components, to analyze demographics, clinical characteristics, procedural details, and outcomes of ACS and PCI cases. Statistical analyses were employed to compare variables and draw conclusions regarding the management and outcomes of ACS and PCI procedures. Result: Among 82 patients 41 patients were prescribed Ticagrelor and the rest 41 patients with Clopidogrel. The safety and efficacy of Ticagrelor were compared with Clopidogrel. The unpaired t-test is accommodated and the level of significance p-value was identified as p=0.039 and the study was found to be significant. Conclusion: In a nutshell, the results indicate that under conditions of regular clinical practice, Ticagrelor has fewer adverse drug reactions and drug interactions compared to Clopidogrel. Therefore, based on our findings it was found Ticagrelor is safer and has higher efficacy than Clopidogrel.

Keywords: Cardiovascular disease, ticagrelor, clopidogrel, myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndrome, P2Y12 inhibitors.
