LOKNATH RASA AS AN ANTIOXIDANT: LITERATURE REVIEW

. Abstract Ayurveda is one of the ancient medical system which has a scientific foundation formulated by experiments and observations of ancient wisdom. In Ayurveda, there are so many drugs and formulations showing extraordinary results in maintaining the health. One of those formulations is Loknath Rasa from Rasa Manjari. Loknath rasa (Rasa Manjari) is mainly indicated in Kshaya Roga.[1] Kshaya roga can be corelated with Tuberculosis[2] and as other chronic diseases it is also associated with oxidative stress. Till date modern science doesn’t have any specific source of antioxidants. Fruits and vegetables are main sources of antioxidants. Loknath rasa having Kapardika bhasma, Shuddha Tankana and Citrus limon L. as its content may become a good source of antioxidant. Hence present literature study focuses mainly on literature review as well as antioxidant property of Loknath rasa. Aim and objective: 1) To explore the various pharmacological actions of Loknath rasa. 2) To evaluate antioxidant property of Loknath rasa.
