Abstract

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, relies heavily on the rich knowledge of medicinal plants and their uses, often derived from local health traditions (LHTs). These traditions have been shaped by centuries of empirical observations and experiences of indigenous communities. This paper explores the significance of survey studies in understanding and preserving LHTs within Ayurveda, highlighting their role in drug discovery, conservation of biodiversity, and the enhancement of healthcare practices.
