AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF TINEA CORPORIS – A CASE STUDY
Shreyashri Suvarnna and Arya Mohan C. K.*
. Abstract Skin is an important and most visible organ of our body. Infections like bacteria, fungi are the most common cause of skin diseases. Tinea corporis is a frequently occurring skin infection, mainly due to poor hygienic conditions. On overall skin diseases, 10–20% are caused by tinea infections. Tinea corporis comes under various kushta roga (Twak vikaras), which can be correlated with “Dadru”. The predominant dosha involved in this condition is Pitta-kapha. This is the case report of a sixty-one-year-old woman who visited the outpatient of SDM Ayurveda College, Udupi, with dry, itchy, and scaly skin associated with blackish lesions without oozing. Ayurveda medications were administered, followed by inpatient treatment with internal medications along with Snehapana, followed by Virechana, and external procedures like parisheka with Kushtahara and Kandughna Dravyas for 2 weeks, along with dietary advice for a period of one month. Encouraging results were observed in the form of a reduction in itching, and dryness. Dietary restrictions and internal medication must be continued to prevent the recurrence of the condition. Keywords: Tinea corporis, Dadru, Snehapana, Virechana. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
