Aniket N. Salunke*, Dr. Prachi Jain, V. R. Mule and S. V. Jadhav
Abstract The traditional use of tamarind and its health benefits while the high phenolic content of its seed coat suggest it might be explored skin lightener. For this, we focused on the possible role of seed coat extract in inhibiting melanogenesis and restores reactive oxygen species through attenuation of glutathione level and antioxidant enzyme expression in human skinfibroblasts in response to oxidative stress. To formulate and evaluate herbal cream using seed coat extract of Tamarind (Tamarindus indica, Fabacae) to give multipurpose effect. The cream was prepared by using the cream base i.e. yellow bees wax, liquid paraffin, borax, seed coat extract, methyl paraben, distilled water and rose oil. The cream was prepared by using paddle mixer for geometric and homogeneous mixing of all the excipients and the herbal extract. Formulation evaluated for different parameters like appearance, pH, phase separation. Herbal ingredients used in formulation shows significant different activities based on the results, we can suggest that formulation is stable and can be safely used on skin. Keywords: 1. Antihyperpigmentation. 2. Seed coat extract of tamarind 3. Antioxidant 4. Herbal cosmetics 5. Multipurpose cream. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
