Sharma Piyush*, Chauhan Meenakshi, Singh Manjeet and Shashank
. Abstract Sandhigat Vata is a common joint disorder caused by Dhatukshya. This condition significantly impairs daily activities like walking, dressing, and bathing, and it often results in disability. Managing a Vatavyadhi such as Sandhigat Vata in older ages is challenging. The Vata Dosha plays an important role in the pathogenesis of this disease, which primarily affects the Marmasthisandhi. A defining characteristic of this condition is the presence of Shula Pradhana Vedana, frequently accompanied by Sandhishotha, Vata Purna Druti Sparsha, and limited or painful joint movements. With increasing age, the affected joint (especially the knee joint) undergoes some degenerative changes, so this study is aimed at evaluating the prevalence of degenerative changes in knee osteoarthritis among the population over 40 years of age in Paprola, India. For this study, 50 patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) were selected from Rajiv Gandhi Ayurvedic Hospital Paprola. Keywords: Sandhigat Vata, Degenerative changes, Knee osteoarthritis.
