Abstract Mass spectrometry (MS) has revolutionized bioanalytical method development, providing unparalleled sensitivity, specificity, and versatility. This review highlights the critical role of MS in modern bioanalytical techniques, focusing on its application in drug development, proteomics, metabolomics, and clinical diagnostics. We discuss advancements in MS technology, the integration with chromatographic methods, and the regulatory considerations for method validation. Through various case studies, we illustrate how MS-based methods have enhanced biomolecule detection, quantification, and characterisation, ultimately driving innovation in biomedical research and pharmaceutical development.
