REVIEW ON CONTEMPORARY METHODS OF DETECTION OF POISON

. Abstract Poison is commonly referred to a substance, when administered, inhaled or swallowed, is capable to produce potential harm to the body. Both contemporary texts and the ancient Samhitas include extensive descriptions of poisoning. Ayurveda scriptures cite a number of ways to identify these poisons, including Panchbhautika Pareeksha, the effect of poisons on birds and animals, and indications and symptoms that humans may experience after consuming certain poisons. Numerous analytical techniques, including chromatography, mass spectrometry, spectrophotometry, immunoassay, and radioimmuno assay, are listed in contemporary publications for the identification of numerous poisons. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview on the methodologies of detection of poison in Ancient Ayurvedic references as well as in the contemporary sciences. Keywords: .
