ANATOMICAL STUDY ON KLOMA: A REVIEW ARTICLE

Abstract The Kloma is one of the roots of Udakavaha Srotas, which is undefined organ. References of Kloma in various Ayurvedic Samhitas are scattered and exact anatomical consideration of Kloma is still controversial. Different opinions are found in ayurvedic context with respect to the Kloma. A few organs which are generally consider in context of Kloma are Pittashaya (Gall bladder), Agnashaya (Pancreas), Dakshin Phuphusa (Right Lung). Acharya Sushruta had described in Sharir Sthan the anatomical situation of Hridaya (Heart), and to the right are situated Yakrit and Kloma. Acharya has described the Viddha Lakshan (Traumatic effects) of Udakavaha Srotas is PIPASA (thirst) and SADHYOMARAN (death). In modern science if we compare the traumatic effect of Udakavaha srotas to Diabetic Ketoacidosis, then both the symptoms of Udakavaha Srotas Viddha lakshan comes under this diabetic ketoacidosis.
