A PHARMACOGNOSTIC REVIEW: PLANTAGO OVATA A MAGICAL SEED

Abstract The original objective of the present study was to review various aspects of cultivation, growth, biological, pharmacological and pharmacological properties of Plantago ovata Plantago ovata belongs to Plantaginaceae family. This annual herb is native to the Mediterranean region, mainly southern Europe, northern Africa and western Asia. Electronic databases (Medline, Science Direct, Springer link, PubMed, Google and Google Scholar) were searched for literature on the pharmacology of Plantago ovata the literature review showed that Plantago ovata has been assigned pharmacological and pharmacological activities. Due to its properties such as mucilage, superdistendant, gelling agent, suspending agent and medicinal actions such as antidiarrheal, anticonstipation, wound healing, hypocholesterolemic and hypoglycemic, it is widely used in many medicines.
