HARNESSING THE POWER OF HERBS: A LOOK AT THALISAPATHRI VADAGAM, A SIDDHA POLYHERBAL FORMULATION
Sowmiya S.*, Srekala K. S. and Saravanadevi M. D.
. Abstract This article investigates the potential of "Thalisapathri Vadagam," a polyherbal Siddha formulation, mentioned in the classical literature ‘Sarabendira Vaidya Muraigal’ for treating menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding). Menorrhagia is a prevalent health concern in India, affecting a significant portion of the female population. Siddha, a traditional Indian system of medicine, offers a unique perspective on women's health and has been practiced for centuries."Thalisapathri Vadagam" comprises eight herbal ingredients, each possessing a distinct profile of phytochemical constituents. These constituents are believed to collectively exert an effect in regulating menstrual flow and potentially alleviating associated symptoms. The article explores the historical mention of this formulation in classical Siddha literature, lending credibility to its traditional use. By examining the properties of the individual ingredients and their potential synergistic effects, this article sheds light on the possible mechanisms by which "Thalisapathri Vadagam" might address menorrhagia. Further research is warranted to explore the efficacy and safety of this Siddha formulation through clinical trials. Keywords: Siddha, Perumbadu, Menorrhagia, Thalisapathri vadagam, Phytochemical analysis. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
