A GREEN APPROACH FOR THE SYNTHESES OF SOME BENZIMIDAZOLE MOLECULES
*Amit Dwivedi
Abstract During course of the work a series of 2-(2-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2- yl)phenyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (scheme 1) and 2-phenyl-1Hbenzo[ d]imidazole (scheme 2) were synthesized via microwave irradiation technique. For the synthesis of 2-(2-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol- 2-yl)phenyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole the mixture of phthalodinitrile and o-Phenylinediamine was irradiated for 20 minutes (Scheme 1A). And for the synthesis of 2-phenyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole, the mixture benzonitrile and o-phenylinediamine was irradiated for 30 minutes (Scheme 1B). The structure of these compounds has been confirmed by mass spectral data and NMR spectra and elemental analysis. This method achieved the reduction in reaction times, higher yields, and cleaner reactions than the previous described conventional synthetic processes. Keywords: benzimidazoles, microwave heating, geen approach, cleaner reactions. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
