KESH PALITYA NAASHAKA LEPA: A REVIEW ON DESIGNING AND MECHANISM OF HERBAL MASK FOR HAIR RESTORATION

Abstract Ayurveda is the most ancient branch of medical science which is having not only health solutions but also cosmetological solutions too. Untimely greying of hair is matter of concerns since ancient times. Nowadays there are remarkable products available to mask hair greying, but these products may not be safe to use for longer duration and may show adverse effects like irritation of scalp, fast greying of hair, increased hair fall after application. In some cases, contact allergy, contact dermatitis, eye irritation is seen. Thus, present study is aimed to describe about unique formulation stated in Sharangdhar Samhita named as Kesha Palityanashak Lepa (Anti-gray hair mask) to provide alternative option for the individuals suffering from hair greying. The ingredients present in Kesha Palityanashak Lepa (antigray hair mask) are carefully and precisely chosen to achieve the targeted action of hair dying by combinations of herbal and natural drugs. Which shows potential of Ayurvedic herbs and minerals in not only colouring the hair but also restoring hair by providing nourishment. The product prepared with natural drug sources with Ayurvedic pharmaceutical method can be the safe, and organic based alternative for present day chemical hair dyeing cosmetic products.
