THE PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL OVERVIEW OF CELOSIA ARGENTEA

Abstract

Every culture have utilized medicinal plants as a source of medicine, therefore they are crucial to public health, particularly in nations that are developing and emerging. Herbs and medicinal plants have been utilized for for flavoring, food preservation, and for the relief of a variety of illnesses. The world uses biological secondary metabolites, which are created during secondary metabolism, for a variety of uses including the treatment of infectious diseases. These metabolites frequently have higher biological characteristics. In conventional medicine, C. argentea has been widely utilized. Fever, diarrhea, piles, bleeding nose, mouth sores, itching, wounds, jaundice, and gonorrhea are just a few of the ailments it is used to cure. Hepatic asthenia, heat in the blood, and hyperpyrexia of the liver are also caused by it. A wide range of pharmacological activities are also present in it, such as immune activity, cytoprotective, antioxidant, inflammation, and gynecologic disorders; additionally, it has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-diarrheal, growthpromoting, anti-oxidant, and anti-infection properties. The secondary metabolites of C. argentea are diverse, with the most important pharmacological active substances being saponins, cyclic peptides, phenols, and minerals. Because of their bioactivities, triterpenoid saponins, cyclic peptides, and betalains present attractive topics for study.An Argentina. The Celosia species generates a wide range of phytoconstituents, such as flavonoids, cardiac glycosides, phenols, tannins, alkaloids, triterpenoids, steroids, phytosterols, and phlobatannins.
