REVIEW: PIPPALI (PIPER LONGUM LINN.): UNVEILING THE SECRETS OF A BIOENHANCER HERB

. Abstract The materia medica of India provides a great deal of information on the Ayurveda, folklore practices and traditional aspects of therapeutically important natural products. It is very important to an Ayurvedic scholar to update the ancient therapeutic measures, which are given in classics and to find out new drugs and formulation without leaking the theoretical essence. So In the realm of herbal medicine, pippali, scientifically known as Piper longum, has gained significant recognition for its remarkable bioenhancing properties. With a rich historical background rooted in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, pippali continues to captivate researchers and health enthusiasts alike. In this article, we delve into the key factors that impact pippali as a bioenhancer herb, exploring the tradeoffs, challenges, and the importance of considering its impact on the body. Pippali (Piper longum Linn.) is one of the herbs mentioned since Vedic period in Ayurveda. Many Ayurveda philosophers and healers praised about the properties of this plant and utilized in various disorders. Here, a review made on the screening of Piper longum for various activities. It is found that the drug is very potential and can be used for various applications as mentioned in Ayurevada.
