Abstract

Ayurveda treats diseases through three processes which mainly consists of cure, prevention of disease and promotion of mental and physical health. As health promotion is mostly unexplored part of ayurveda. Every person wants to live a long and healthy life. This is only possible by promoting health, healing, rejuvenation and regeneration of living tissue of the body and for this Rasayana therapy will be most required treatment other than dietary needs. It also helps to reverse the disease process i.e., Samprapti and prevents any reoccurrence of diseases i.e., Apunarbhava chikitsa. Rasayana is advised during degenerative phase of 40-45 years of both male and female. Vasant-kusumakar Rasa is an ancient and classical Herbo-mineral ayurvedic formulation. It is been widely used for general weakness of the body or as rejuvenation. The main ingredients of Vasantkusumakar Rasa are Suvarna Bhasma (Au), Rajat Bhasma (Ag), Loha Bhasma (Fe), Vanga Bhasma (Sn), Vanga Bhasma (Pb), Abhraka Bhasma, Praval and Mauktik Bhasma. These contents are effective in Rasayana therapy which is used in diseases like Prameha and Rajayakshma also enhances life span, increases intelligence, delays aging, improves memory power, promotes health, enhances body luster, changes body to youthful state. So, Vasantkusumakar Rasa can be very useful in treatment and promotion of health. The present study aims to review literature regarding Rasayana property of Vasant-kusumakar Rasa. This combinational drug acts in both types of vyadhi i.e., Santarpanjanya and Apatarpanjanya vyadhi.
