. Abstract Host-parasite relationships arise from long-term relationships between organisms living in a particular environment. The nature and extent of the relationship determines the type of relationship that exists between organisms living together. The parasite has its determinants of virulence that allow it to invade and damage the host and to resist the defenses of the host.
