Abstract Respiratory disorders linked to allergies and air pollution are becoming an increasingly significant global health issue, with Eosinophilia playing a central role in many of these conditions. Eosinophilia refers to an elevated level of eosinophils, a type of white blood cell involved in immune responses, particularly in allergic and inflammatory diseases like asthma, eosinophilic bronchitis, and rhinitis. These conditions lead to persistent airway inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and hypersensitivity, with eosinophils releasing inflammatory mediators that damage tissues, increase mucus production, and worsen symptoms like chronic cough and wheezing. Allergens such as dust mites, pollen, and mold further amplify this response. The rising prevalence of allergic diseases and air pollution has made eosinophilia a key factor in the global burden of respiratory disorders, with air pollution alone responsible for millions of premature deaths annually, In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Vataja Kasa refers to a dry, nonproductive cough, similar to the symptoms seen in eosinophilic inflammation, such as chest tightness and difficulty breathing. While Ayurvedic concepts like doshas don’t directly correlate with modern medical terms, there are parallels between Vataja Kasa and conditions driven by eosinophilic inflammation. This case study has shown that treatment with Bakula pushpa churna, a single herb, provided symptomatic relief by reducing respiratory distress and improving outcomes in patient with elevated eosinophil levels. This highlights the potential of integrating Ayurvedic treatments in managing respiratory conditions associated with eosinophilia. Keywords: Eosinophilia, Absolute Eosinophilic count, Bakula pushpa, vataja kasa. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
