ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF NEW TRITERPENOID SAPONIN FROM THE STEMS OF ALBIZIA LEBBECK WILD.

Abstract

A new triterpenoid saponin compound 1 m.p. 264-266oC, m.f.C47H76O16 , [M] + m/z 896 has been isolated from the methanolicextract of the stems of the plant along with known compoundOleanolic acid acetate by various colour reactions, chemicaldegradation and spectral analysis.The structure of new compound 1was characterized as 3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 4)]-β-DxylopyranosylOleanolic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester.
