Abstract Background: Chronic venous ulcers (varicose ulcers) are a debilitating condition often complicated by diabetes mellitus, leading to delayed wound healing and increased infection risk. This case study explores the effectiveness of Ayurvedic interventions in managing chronic varicose ulcers, showcasing their potential in wound care. Case Presentation: A 58-year-old male with a three-year history of a venous ulcer above the right medial malleolus and poorly controlled diabetes mellitus underwent a two-month Ayurvedic treatment regimen. Prior allopathic treatments spanning 2.5 years failed to provide relief. Interventions: The Ayurvedic approach included daily topical applications of herbal paste with known antiseptic and antiinflammatory properties, oral herbal medications, and regular followup monitoring. Results: Post-treatment, there was a significant reduction in ulcer size, complete cessation of pus discharge, and improved wound re-epithelization. Pain and itching scores reduced from 5 to 1 and 8 to 2, respectively. Conclusion: This case underscores the potential of Ayurvedic management in addressing chronic venous ulcers, particularly in patients with comorbid conditions like diabetes.
