INNOVATIVE PADARTH VIGYAN SYLLABUS BY NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR INDIAN SYSTEM OF MEDICINE'S (NCISM'S) FOR ADVANCE IN AYURVEDA EDUCATION

Abstract

The field of Ayurvedic education has seen a substantial change in recent years. A more thorough and approachable method of teaching Ayurveda was required as interest in and awareness of ancient therapeutic methods grew. The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine has established a new syllabus for the Second Professional Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery program. It is a thorough and wellrounded curriculum that combines traditiona Ayurvedic knowledge with contemporary teaching techniques. Padartha Vijnanam is a unique and mandatory subject needed for learning the stream of Ayurveda. It is the combination of science and philosophy. One can say that the science and philosophy are the two sides of the same coin. The search behind “existence of world/self” when progresses outward it travels the path of science and when this search is inwards it becomes philosophy. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on studying padarth Vigyan, as well as on practical application and critical thinking abilities. It consists of thorough evaluation criteria and experiential learning opportunities. The new curriculum has the potential to completely transform Ayurvedic education and give students the abilities and information they need to successfully handle modern health concerns.[1]
